Am not sure if it's the severe cold that's messing with this Stylists skin or the louche living of the season, but somethings up and it's not pretty. Having survived the ski slopes (barely), sub zero weather on our return and rediscovered the joy of reading a trove of trashy Brit magazines - thanks to a visiting chum - this Christmas period was shaping up to be a blissful mix of torture and hedonism all thrown into one. That is until I woke this morning to find that my face is falling off.
Clearly this could be down to old age - see previous post about my Wii age apparently being a decade older than I am. But am thinking is more likely that my pasty Celtic skin is not adapting to severe seasonal changes as easily as I thought.
"Give it a couple of years and you'll be spouting on about allergies" a mate had advised when we first arrived. Surely not possible, am promising myself that will not be joining the hoards of folk who troop to the Doc each spring for their 'allergy' shot in the hope that it will keep a little sniffle or a rash away.So in true Brit fashion have resorted to the other method of self medication - face creams!
Not just the one of course but have dashed out and managed to get my hands on at least 5 'holy grail' solutions that will no doubt fix me within a day. Only problem is am not sure which to use and in what order so rather than fixing the one issue I seem to have created a number of others...
There's the Philosophy Hope in a Tube under eye cream - that seems to have had the opposite effect of removing dark circles and added puffy eyes to my list of woes. The Creme de la Mer pot which I was lavishing over the flakier areas of my face only to find that I now seem to be breaking out in teen spots to boot. Not to mention the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm that promises youthful return of complexion but seems to have turned me quite pink - oh no need to panic shall counteract that with the Murad redness therapy gel.
After a day of self help am now resigned to the fact that it's time for intervention and some common sense advise from my lovely local Aesthetician, Suzannah, who has loaded me up with Decleor Harmonie - absolutely fabulous product - smells good, feels good, is fixing the problem and what's more it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Note to self - trust the professionals next time.
