It seems only days since Thanksgiving but Santa is already on Duty in our neighborhood complete with 4 reindeer who seem to have parked themselves at our local garden centre. When quizzed by youngest child whether indeed that was the 'real' Santa he had just met - who, to be fair did have all his own long white beard, no fake Santa's may apply in Greenwich clearly - I took the plunge and nodded affirmation that escalated into a slew of further questions about elves, Christmas factories, travel arrangements for said hierarchical chain of command and so forth.
So on the one hand its great to have a little enquirer on our hands, but on the other, it's only December 4th dammit and I have to keep fencing questions for another 21 days, not to mention interception of mail man with packages that may make that certain 'lego' noise when shaken too harshly.
It's not that I have a bent towards scrooge like behavior, it just seems quite a marathon ahead - my Ipod is already ringing out its Christmas play list and some small child has managed to download an App that shows how many sleeps till Christmas.
Perhaps it's time to down an egg nog or two and immerse myself in the Holiday spirit... oh! hang on! smallest son has just got 'How the Grinch Stole Xmas' on the TV, budge up...
