Studio 54 is still stylish

Headed to Studio 54 last night with some buddies to see Carrie Fisher in 'Wishful Drinking'. Sounded like a master plan that involved dinner at very cute Casellula on West 52nd St, despite their tricky 'you can't book and you can't sit at a table until all your party are here' rule - when there are only 12 tables at best, that becomes quite a challenge to secure a spot - nonetheless our intrepid party persevered and enjoyed some delicious pre show nibbles.

The legendary Studio 54 - yes that of the hedonistic disco days of  the 70's and 80's, was looking less than shabby, after its recent perk up and renovation back to a theatre all that was left of the good old days seemed to be the leopard print carpet - and you know how I feel about that...

Carrie Fisher was delightfully candid about her celebrity rich roots with the highlight of the 1st Act being a huge breakdown of her complex family tree. Spookily hubs had just given me "How to be a Movie Star" by William J. Mann which covers the glorious escapades of Elizabeth Taylor in her hey day, so I felt suitably well versed in Ms Fishers past - think Hollywood golden era mixed with scandalous affairs...

Sadly our valiant troop did not have the staying power of those debauched revelers that Studio 54 had once been used to - with jet lag getting the better of us, we nipped out early and sped home for an early night!

If you liked this post, take a peek at these...
