Why is it that every time I get dragged off to the ski slopes my style senses seem to fail me. Not my most favorite pass time anyway, as I learned way late and am therefore considerably cruddy at it compared to the image in my sad little head which has me schooshing down the slopes with the ease of Kate Middleton powering down the slopes in Klosters.
The reality is my over padded self each season tootles down the less tricky slopes in the hope that I might pull a muscle early and retire gracefully to the warmth of the lodge fire with a copy of OK magazine and a glass of fizz in my hand.
Sadly, when only skiing with my small family the chances of slacking off are diminished so its with gritted teeth that this season I have attempted to grab the proverbial bull by the horns. After a rather savvy purchase in last seasons sales of an Orage jacket in chocolate brown - a mate of mine had one in olive which looked fab and I did the usual 'it looks great on her & she can ski so ergo it will make me ski better if I have it' - or is that just me...So base purchase sorted, the ski pants were next on the hit list. Having been inundated by Gorsuch and Athleta direct mailings this winter I'd noticed that there is more out there than the usual puffy old ski pants that make you look like you have the style of a teen snowboarder but with a much wider girth. I managed to procure a pair of brown cruiser pants which are much more flattering than the boarder look and are waterproof and windproof to boot - as I can atest to today after a full day on the slopes in Vermont in rain - yes, rain - see previous point about why I don't like skiing...
The last key to the look I think is the right hat and have decided that this will indeed complete my full transformation from reluctant slacker to full ski bunny status, have spotted this thick knit version from Shopbop which will definitely make it to my purchase list - that is if I survive tomorrows antics on the slopes...
