If I were looking for a summer wardrobe that could take me from Soho to the beach in one seamless move, I would probably head to Yigal Azrouel next season. His runway show was teaming with jersey drapes and simple separates with an edge that whispered rock chick on easy street.
Asymmetric body con pieces were paired with peg leg trousers, drawstring pants and cute shorts. The palette may have been muted with greys and taupes, but each look was pimped up by a cut out detail on the shoulder here, a studded belt to cinch the waist there or the peek of a slashed bra top.
He showed his men's and women's line together, which although didn't provide perfect syncopation - the relaxed vibe of the latter look jarred slightly with the sharper jackets and color block detail of the men's pieces. The layering however, was divine in both, men's striped tees and vests complimented a similar tableau in the women's. Stand out pieces were a pistachio/nude plisse applique dress which would be a great summer party piece when teamed with one of his jet wash viscose linen jackets. If you feel a little twitchy and can't wait till next season try shopping Azrouels Fall collection - there's plenty of layering joy to keep you warm this winter.
