Back door at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion week Chad White was reporting for Fashion TV sporting this years must have trilby (luckily my Element tifter was safely tucked away in my bag - there are no winners when it comes to sizing up to a supermodel to compare hats).
Spookily my octogenarian old mum and teen niece were out the back acting as my paparazzo squad. My niece was first to spot the uber Adonis and whispered his name to my slightly deaf mum.
"It's Chad White" she squeaked,
"Who?" trilled my mum, '"John Wayne?" - and there you have it - celeb spotting through the ages.
Jo Public can get a chance to spot these delightful beings but its a waiting game. My team did a sterling job in the rain and doubtless my niece has already posted her pic of Chad on facebook for all her buddies to ogle. Although I have failed to spot a Wintour or a Beckham so far, another quirky spot was Georges Chakra, hot foot from Paris Couture shows the designer was showing in New York for the second time - his presentation, flamboyant, in comparison to some of the starker looks seen this week. Georges was caught having a sneaky smoke at the back door directly after his show.
Fantastic though it is having press access to this event, as a common or garden blogger it seems there is little credence in the fashion world yet to the burgeoning blogosphere or the revolution of social media - judging by ones seat assignment for each show. Luckily pre warned is pre armed and my Louboutins remained stoically at home, flats were the order of the day for the hours of standing in line - that said, for 10 minutes of a Chakra show - worth the bunions.
