An invite to the Hamptons has been graciously accepted but the next problem is what to pack? Clearly seaside dressing is more casual than a city girls usual fair, but given my previous maxi dress moan its time to come up with a new look prior to arrival on those hallowed beaches. Last years 'must have' in Southampton were a variety of hippie kaftan's straight from Scoop but not much else. So a trip into the West Village has been undertaken and a packing list slowly emerging. I like to start with a couple of basics : this summers must have straw trilby-check, Laura Lobdell 'seeds of silk' lime green friendship bracelet (complete with cast of silver shell from Montauk beach) - check.
What else does a girl need to look casual yet classy on the beach - my inner boho is thinking a couple of Calypso dresses in bright silks, a pair of Chanel jelly flip flops and a Heidi Klein bikini is all one needs.
The only problem with my flit to the village is that I have now spotted the incoming Fall 09 stock - focus on beachwear is beginning to wane.....
