At least the Guggenheim has air con....

We are in the midst of a heat wave - apparently if you hit 3 days straight at 90f or above that's a real heatwave. Day 3 of our current one and its all very interesting but am having trouble with figuring out what to wear. You step outside for more than 5 minutes and its like living in Hong Kong on a dull day... armpits dripping, beautiful silk Anthropologie blouse that I stepped out in soaked through.. what's to be done. Attempt 2 is no better - short sleeved shirt dress in Navy by J Crew - apparently the shirt dress is what all the city girls are wearing this summer due to the recession & all - they can't afford to buy separates, only the 1 piece according to style meister Bill Cunningham of the NY Times (who, it must be said has been saving my bacon all summer with his guidance on what goes on on the streets). So attempt 3 finally works for my Sunday Guggenheim trip with the family - Black strappy Velvet embellished top - check, preppy shorts - check, Lanvin black satin sandals (yes them again - am working that 'cost per wear' thing), straw fedora hat - check. All very nice but 2 minutes looking at the reservoir at Central Park & its definitely time to ditch the heat wave & head for the glorious Guggenheim (Frank Lloyd Wright exhibition) if only for the air con.....
