Off the Sidewalk NY - Guest blog from the fashionistas at Off the Sidewalk.com

New York “hearts” fashion like it’s going out of style. Anything goes; timeless and classic coupled with experimentation is the New York culture.

A little bit of rock mixed with Parisian chic, or downtown grunge with a twist of uptown girl.  Mix up your own style. Change it up everyday. Whatever takes your fancy, match your outfit to your mood. As Manhattan is the ultimate film set why not get into character each day through your fashion and what you wear.

It's all fabulocity in the city that never sleeps.

It is admired here to take a risk and do something different. Play with fashion and have fun. There are no sniggers or odd looks, in fact you are more likely to be asked, 'Where did you get that fabulous jacket?'

I know that since moving here from London, for one thing, my hemlines certainly got shorter but I also began mixing up a bit of old with new.

The vintage stores here are amazing and the flea markets are a great place to find a little gem.  Here are a few of my personal favorites.

As the street markets and thrift stores are so easily accessible in NY (no more trekking across to East London for me) we are able to shed the generic, usual suspects, and high street fashion looks that you would annoyingly see so many others wearing on a Saturday on Oxford St, and really spread our fashionable wings.

People experiment more in New York as there are fewer chain stores and 'high street / main street' brands and more independent boutiques at a range of price points to suit every purse string, while you create the look and personality you want to portray to the world.

So, NY “hearts” fashion and I “heart” NY
