London Fashion Week - Guest blog post by Louise Selby & Caroline Gibson

Naughty at Nolcha London

Over to London for a sneak peak at the Eco Show run by Nolcha Fashion, a hub for independent, up and coming fashion designers for whom green isn’t just a colour.

Just how many new things can a girl crave in one afternoon? Was it the free Aveda manicure and neck massage at the Gina Conway Salon that sent us into a trance – or the fabulously themed, devilish cocktails (‘Nude Lace’, ‘The Girl in the Camel Coat’) courtesy of venue The Trafalgar Hotel?

We ‘aaaahed’ over the Hetty Rose shoes, made from vibrantly patterned pieces of kimonos sourced from markets in Kyoto. We ‘ooohed’ over the stone-washed silk pieces in subtle blues and taupes by Alise Trautmane of Narciss.

But when we reached Ana Gutierrez, it was temptation with a capital T that stopped us in our tracks. Her silver jewellery is recycled from x-rays (how cool is that?) and her lusciously soft leather clutch bags are made by prison inmates in Costa Rica through a government incentive to learn new skills.

We departed with a small dent in our bank accounts but none whatsoever in our consciences.

  1. Humans are very social and reliant on co-operation for survival, so having good social skills can be much more attractive than someone who is just physically attractive.
